Miley on the mend!
After spending more than a week in the hospital following a severe allergic reaction to medication to treat the flu, Miley Cyrus is out of the hospital and looking forward to resuming her Bangerz tour.
The “Adore You” singer called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Monday morning from her home to update us on her condition.
“I’m doing good, much better, happy to be on the phone with you guys,” Miley told Ryan and Ellen K.
“So basically I had gotten sick while I was on the road,” she explained. After taking some doctor-prescribed medication for the flu, “On the sixth day, I just woke up … it was so scary … I had basically been poisoning myself with something I didn’t know I was really scary allergic to.”
After spending one night in the hospital, she returned to her tour, only to fall ill again the next morning and have to go back to the hospital a second time. “It was insane. I was begging the doctors, ‘Let me out to go do the show!’ It was basically no way.”
Miley, who is allergic to penicillin (although that’s not what she was given), added she was most upset about “not being out on the road. I would feel good … [and ask doctors] ‘Can I go? Can I get back on the stage?’ That was the hardest part.”
All that time spent in the hospital has inspired Miley to want to get more involved with Ryan’s Seacrest Studios and the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. “I’m actually so excited to get more involved and help more of the kids … It’s such an intense situation. I don’t know how these kids do this.”
“I was crying because I was so bored. I’m laying here hooked to all these machines. Every two hours, some woman comes in and pokes me with a needle, just miserable … I’m just laying here with nothing to do … I ended up doing some online shopping,” including buying a hot pink mini skirt.
Luckily, she’s out of the hospital, resting up at home, and now “I should be all good,” Miley told us. “I’ve been really good.”
And she’s getting ready to head back on the road! First up is Europe, and then she’ll be coming back to the U.S. to make up the dates she had to postpone due to her hospitalization.
In addition to touring, Miley is also getting ready to drop a new single. “I’m thinking about what I want to do with that, you know, videos and everything.”
